Sorry you are having so much trouble with this recipe.
I beat the mixture on medium speed until it was all incorporated.....never over beat this kind of mixture, you will flatten the ingredients.
Fold in the flour mixture with a spatula to the wet ingredients in stages. Again do not over mix.
The flour is plain flour.
The teaspoon would be level.
The tin was definitely 23cm/9".

You sound a bit anxious. Maybe you need to approach making it again when you are at your most calm and relaxed..I swear that makes a difference.
Best of luck,
Johanna.

Hi,

I've just made this cake for the third time, and I just can't get it right! The first one was as flat as a pancake. So, for the second I made it with self-raising flour, and in a 20cm tin instead of 23cm. This resulted in a much better rise, that looked like the Tesco photo, however it was really dry! Then I came across your website, and because it looked accurate, I did the original recipe again. Once again, it's as flat as a pancake! Where am I going wrong? You said you beat your eggs, yogurt and vaniila with an electric mixer, how long for, and what speed? Also did you use a level teasspoon of baking powder, or a heaped? Did you use plain flour, or self-raising, and are you certain your tin was 23cm, and not 20cm? Please help!
